Welcome to the Hospital Radio Rossendale Website. Hospital Radio Rossendale is made up of Hospital Radio Broadcasting and the Hospital Radio Tea Bar. On this site you'll be able to find out more about the history of the whole station which started back on 17th December 1979.

Hospital Radio Rossendale – Brief History

Hospital Radio Rossendale was formed in 1979 as part of the Friends of Rossendale Hospital.

The first broadcast was transmitted from a small studio in the basement of Musbury House at 8.15 on 17th December 1979. The station moved into the main hospital building in September 1988.

The Friends disbanded in 1997, at that point the Hospital Radio Committee started the process of becoming a register charity. This was granted in the spring of 1998 – when we gained our own charity number 1069347. The outpatients tea bar wished to continue to function, so they joined the radio station charity.
